Constant Convocation Center
The Ted Constant Convocation Center was specifically designed to be able to hold a wide variety of events. It is a landmark on the campus of Old Dominion University, but holds events for the entire community of Norfolk, Virginia. The University broke ground for the Constant Convocation Center in 1999. The name of the Constant Convocation Center comes from Theodore F. Constant, who is the founder of the Norfolk Beverage Co. He made a $5 million donation to get the Constant Convocation Center started.
The development of the Constant Convocation Center was part of a bigger dream of the 75-acre University Village project, which also features a shopping center, restaurants, offices, theaters, research labs and residences. The Constant Convocation Center was designed by Moseley/Rosetti and boasts an unmistakable style. It features 215,000 square feet and a capacity of up to 10,000, depending on the event.
Ever since it opened, the Constant Convocation Center has been a place for sports, entertainment and more. It is the home of Old Dominion University men’s and women’s basketball teams, and it also holds a variety of concert and other events throughout the year.
